Goldie Buried With Tributes From Husband and Denrele

Posted in: ,

Goldie [real name Susan Harvey] was buried today at the Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens after her sudden death on Valentine's Day. Her husband, family, Kennis music label and friends were there to bid her farewell. May her soul rest in peace. Below are tributes from her husband Andrew Harvey, pictures of the funeral and tribute from Denrele Edun.

Andrew Harvey's Tribute -

Susan you walked into my life, it was like God sent you as a fresh breath.

I still remember your response to my first love message. You said 'Love killed romeo, sent Diana to an early grave and killed Jack on the Titanic. Forget about love, just have friendship and live long.

Overtime our love grew to a depth I have never known. You were the best years of my life, your smile, your desire to live your dream.

Goldie was Married - Husband Andrew Harvey's Interview and Facebook Album

Posted in: ,

Goldie's husband, Andrew Harvey, had preferred to be private and stay out of his wife's professional and public life as an artiste and musician. Now he has spoken out to try to quench the gossip trailing Goldie's death by sharing a Facebook album of their time together..

Looking at their pictures made it as real as it could get. From the date marks on the photos, they've been together for up to ten years, and in the pics, as I saw the woman, Susan Harvey, so real, so happy, my heart was broken all over again. She was truly beautiful.

Goldie's Tribute Video and Official Statement on her Death

I went offline yesterday still somehow hoping this was a hoax. I woke up to Atala telling me it was on BBC News, and the day got duller than just from the weather outside my window. The Vanguard reports that Goldie died of pulmonary embolism, but the speculations are unconfirmed. This is the statement from the CEO of Kennis Music, Kenny Ogungbe;

“With a deep sense of loss, we announce the shocking death of our darling music star, Goldie Harvey. Goldie, 31, died on Thursday after she complained of a severe headache shortly after her arrival from the United States where she went to witness the Grammy Award. She was rushed from her Park View, Ikoyi, Lagos residence to her official hospital, Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival at exactly 7:30pm in the evening.

“We consider this period a gloomy moment for us and the entire Nigerian music industry in view of the circumstance in which she passed away; the abundance of talent she exhibited in her short but eventful music career and the various opportunities her trip to the United States of America would have availed her. She is survived by her father, step- mother, brothers and sisters. We deeply sympathise with her family and fans all over the world and very grateful to all and sundry, especially, the vibrant Nigerian media for their concern and prompt reportage. We shall keep everybody informed as events unfold as we are devastated by the sudden loss.”

Photo Tribute to Goldie Harvey - Rest in Peace

Goldie Harvey - 2013 Photoshoot

Goldie Harvey is dead. I was just checking in to social media to while away time while waiting for stuff and then I saw this news in several places, from twitter to the blogs, and finally, I had to accept it. The singer has passed on. First I thought it was a hoax but reports were unanimous with their confirmations. Goldie apparently was declared dead last night at Reddington Hospital, Lagos, after just returning from the US.

The administrators of Goldie's Facebook Page confirmed her death thus; "It is with heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Goldie passed this night shortly after arriving Lagos from LA. May her soul rest in the eternal peace of the Lord - Admin!!"

They say it’s best to bow out when the ovation is loudest, but this is so sad! I enjoyed Goldie's music, the persona she created for herself, the person I saw in her interviews, and just last week, Afronuts mentioned she had visited his office, and he got a glimpse of the woman without the glamour, as she shopped her reality TV series with Denrele, set to launch in a few weeks. And this is what we see? On Valentine's Day too?

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Posted in: ,
Today, I'm going to be featuring Nigerian musicians who have caught the Christmas fever. In the picture is Goldie Harvey, whose single, "We no be mate o", was fixed in my mind for a while. Eva Alordiah and Ese Peters in the video are lovely friends on Facebook and Twitter. They also have loads of talent and I know that much accolades await them in the coming years.

So here's wishing everyone a Fabulous Christmas and a great New Year in advance. Be safe and have fun, but don't forget, this is a season for giving. :)

I love you all. Mwah!
